Advocates for Public International Law Uganda (APILU) was established to promote understanding, observance and entrenchment of the Rule of Law, International Criminal Law, International Humanitarian Law and human rights law in Uganda.
International Law mandates prosecutions for crimes against humanity and war crimes. This helps to ensure victims’ rights to truth and justice and contributes to combating impunity.
Major international treaties to which Uganda is a party – the Convention against Torture, the Geneva Conventions and the Rome statute of the ICC provide that alleged perpetrators of serious crimes must be fairly prosecuted.
